The rhat
The rhat was discovered on one of our paragliding trips
to Osoyoos, British Columbia. We came out of the forest into a clearing and were
startled to be face to face with the rhat. Luckily we had a camera handy and
managed to capture a picture before the rhat disappeared into the forest.
Little is known about the rhat, but only 20 to 30 are
thought to exist, all in the Osoyoos area.
The rhat is the size of a small horse and weighs
about 1250 pounds.
Rhats are thought to be herbivores, although they
have been known to feast on spiders, worms and small insects.
The rhat is a very timid animal, but when cornered
will project horn-balls towards it's threat. The horn-balls can cause serious
discomfort to those unlucky to be hit by them.
