The Chuffalo

In the early 1800's the chuffalo roamed the great American plains in vast numbers, a close relative of the buffalo, they were the original source of buffalo wings.

Chuffalo were very gentle and timid creatures that spent their days grazing or bathing in watering holes.

When startled the chuffalo had the ability to get airborne and could fly at up to 60 MPH, but only for distances of a half a mile.

Though originally the chuffalo's wings helped it avoid predators, eventually they led to it's downfall.

As the Mid-West was settled and pubs and salons sprang up the need for buffalo wings increased exponentially.

By the late 1800's the entire chuffalo population was wiped out and the real buffalo wings that were served in the saloons were soon replaced by chicken.
