The Flunkey
While Australian researchers were trying to develop a
housefly with an appetite for mosquitoes, one of their unsuccessful specimens
managed to escape and quickly multiply and now Australia is teeming with
Flunkies.
The Flunky, although it does not have an appetite
for mosquitoes, does enjoy banana mites, which cause havoc on Australia's banana
industry, and that combined with the fact that some people find the Flunkey
adorable, has helped the Flunkey thrive.
On December 24 2005 a law was passed making it
illegal to swap a Flunkey, with a fine of up to $2,000.00 or a week in
jail.
