The crippopotamus

The crippopotamus, or crippo, accounts for 40% of all animal attacks in Africa.

Crippos are meat eaters, and their days consist of eating, and sleeping. When awake crippos are very aggressive hunters. They have been known to consume as much as 1/2 their body weight or 1,000 pound of meat in a single day.

Crippos can be found in or near rivers throughout Africa, and although sightings are rare, they usually result in someone being eaten.

Crippos are incredibly fast swimmers and runners, if you stumble upon one chances are you're lunch. Your best bet is to climb a tree as crippos can't climb, but they are relentless and will easily spend 48 hours trying to knock down the tree.

The African government has undergone extensive efforts to centralize the crippo population in the African Crippo Reserve (ACR) in an effort to reduce the number of attacks and has been very successful in the last few years.
