The T206 Honus Wagner baseball card has been the most recognized and sought after baseball card for many, many years. This card has been called the “Holy Grail” or the “Mona Lisa” among baseball collectors. This baseball card was the first card to ever be sold for over one million dollars.

There are only fifty or sixty of these cards in existence today and one reason for this is because the cards were printed on tobacco pieces. This was used as a marketing ploy for the tobacco company that sold the card. Wagner asked that reproduction of the card be stopped. The reason for this was that Wagner, although he was a smoker, did not want children to have to buy tobacco products to get his baseball card.

The card was released in the late 1800s but it is still very popular today. The most famous of these cards is still in prime condition and was the first one to be sold for over one million dollars. The card is in the best condition among all the cards that are still among the public today. This card was sold again at a February 26, 2007 Orange County, California auction for 2.35 million dollars. The buyer still remains anonymous.
