works of fiction is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. This story of a nice guy
who might just come out on top has a keen sense of dark humour and is slightly
creepy. The tale of a poor boy who wins tickets to tour Willy Wonka’s chocolate
factory, this story introduces readers to a wide variety of strange but funny
characters.
The first edition was published by Alfred A. Knopf
of New York in 1964. This very rare 1964 first edition features the required six
lines of text in the colophon as all first editions are required to have. The
book also features a red cloth hardbound cover with gold gilt lettering and
yellow mustard endpages. The book comes with a fine dust jacket and strong
binding. This first edition can usually be purchased anywhere from $4000 to
$9000.
