What is the most expensive Star Wars memorabilia in the world?
The Star Wars series of movies has
seen countless pieces of memorabilia sold from its cartoons, novels, comic
books, and just about anything else that an avid fan could hope to collect but
which amongst the crowd sells for the highest price?
The piece is of course, a prop that was worn during
the filming of one of the movies. The movie was Episode V: The Empire Strikes
Back and the person who wore it was Bob Anderson, Olympic fencing champion. He
wore it during the fight scenes between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, with
Anderson playing the part as Darth Vader. Anderson was the stunt double that
played Darth Vader’s more physical scenes and sizing was only one of the reasons
why he didn’t wear the same mask as David Prowse, who played the entire part of
Darth Vader, except for his voice. The other reasoning for the extra mask was
due to the fact that Anderson needed the eyes in his mask to be different
because he had to see so clearly while he fought.
The mask was sold in 2003 by Profiles in History
auction house in California for $115,000, making it the most expensive Star Wars
Darth Vader's Mask
