What is the world's fastest elevator?

Where else would you put the world's fastest elevator but in the world's tallest building, the Taipei 101 office tower in Taipei, Taiwan.

In fact there is not one, but two fastest elevators in the tower which can reach a lifting speed of 1,010 meters per minute or about 60 km/h.

This means the elevator can get you from the ground floor to the top of the 101 story tower in under half a minute.

Don't worry about ear popping as the elevators have a pressure control system to take care of it, but make sure you leave some extra time for your trip down and the elevator descends at only 600 meters per minute.
