WORLD'S FASTEST MARATHON
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
What was the world's fastest marathon?
The marathon is a grueling 42.195 kilometer or 26.22
mile race that is based on the legend of Pheidippides and his 21.4 mile run from
Marathon to Athens to announce the Greek's victory in the Battle of Marathon.
Although the official distances have varied slightly,
they were never exactly 21.4 miles, the current distance of 26.22 miles has been
in effect since 1924.
The world's fastest marathon was run by Paul Tergat
of Kenya at the Berlin Marathon in Germany on September 28, 2003.
His world record time: 2:04:55 which averages out to
12.59 MPH.
