WORLD'S FASTEST DOG
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
What is the world's fastest dog?
The fastest on record is the greyhound which can reach
speeds of up to 45 miles per hour.
This breed of dog can be traced back to ancient
Egypt over 6,000 years ago. It was a revered dog, one that has been found
engraved on caves throughout history. Today, it is mainly used for hunting and
racing. The greyhound has long powerful legs, broad chests and is at its best
when it is running.
During the early twentieth century greyhounds were
bred and trained for coursing. In the 1920’s greyhound racing was introduced
into the United States and in 1926 in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Many of the greyhounds that are bred for racing may
never see a track but become wonderful pets as they are gentle and loving. The
American Kennel Club does register greyhounds a Bertillon card which measures 56
distinct identifying traits. This number is then tattooed on the dog’s ear and
allows it to enter dog races and ensures that the dog that is racing is in the
fact the dog it is suppose to be.
There are a few reasons other than the dog becoming
a pet that prevents the dog from racing which include the dog is too slow, has
physical defects, does not have the proper temperament, bred for dog shows
instead of racing, and the dog could have been raised where dog racing is not
