In 1962 Johnny Carson took over the reigns as host of the Tonight Show with his first show airing on October 01 1962.

1992 saw Johnny Carson step down and pass the chair to Jay Leno.

Johnny's first guest as host of the Tonight Show was Groucho Marx who introduced Johnny.

Johnny's first words were; 'Boy, you would think it was Vice President Nixon.', reacting to the applause from the audience.
