The first green jacket ever

WORLD'S FIRST GREEN JACKET
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST

When was the world's first green jacket awarded?

The Green Jacket is the product of Augusta National Golf Club, the official color of the jacket is Masters green.

In 1937 the Brooks Uniform Company of New York City first produced the Green Jacket for members of the Augusta National Golf Club to wear during the Masters so spectators knew who to seek out if they had questions.

The members were not too thrilled about being asked to wear green jackets.

The first time the Green Jacket was awarded to the Masters Champion was in 1949 and Sam Snead had the honors of receiving it.

Although each year a new jacket is presented, luckily for the winner they only have to keep the Green Jacket for one year as they have to return it at the next tournament.

The jacket is then stored at the club and it may be visited and even worn by the winner at his leisure.
