WORLD'S FIRST GOALIE MASK
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
Who wore the world's first goalie mask?
On November 01 1959, after being
hit in the face by a shot by Andy Bathgate, Montreal Canadien goalie Jacques
Plante donned a goalie mask and the rest is history.
This, however, was not the first goalie mask ever used.
In 1930 Montreal Maroon goaltender, Clint Benedict, was hit in the nose and
cheek by a shot by Howie Morenz and would wear a football-style face mask
for two games.
The first
person to wear a goalie mask was Elizabeth Graham who wore a fencing mask to
protect her good looks in 1927.
