WORLD'S FIRST FERRIS WHEEL
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
What was the world's first Ferris Wheel?
In 1889 Paris held the World's
Fair and the highlight was the Eiffel Tower.
Come 1893 it's Chicago's turn to host the fair and they
wanted something just as grand.
Enter George W. Ferris, a bridge builder by trade, with
a vision of a big wheel.
And he built that wheel and at the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago the world's
first Ferris Wheel made it's debut.
If you were at the fair you'd know that for a mere $.50
you could ride the wheel to a nose bleeding height of 264 feet.
You'd also know that the world's first Ferris Wheel was
moved to St. Louis for the 1904 exposition and then in 1906 it was blown up.
