WORLD'S FIRST
PARACHUTE JUMP

THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST

Who made the world's first parachute jump?

Sebastien Lenormand is credited with the invention of the parachute in 1783 although Leonardo Da Vinci as well as others sketched parachutes centuries earlier.

The world's first documented parachute jump was mad by Andre-Jacques Garnerin on October 22 1797 from a hot air balloon from 8,000 feet over Monceau Park in Paris.

Since harnesses were not invented until 1887 Andre-Jacques Garnerin was in a basket hooked to the parachute and since vents were not used in the chute the basket swung around quite violently making poor Andre-Jacques, not only the first person to make a parachute jump, but also sick as well.
