WORLD'S FIRST US PRESIDENT
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST

Who was the world's first US president?

I hope you are not thinking George Washington, he was the 11th.

Samuel Huntington was the first president when he was elected to the Continental Congress in 1779 when then Articles of Confederation, the first constitution, were adopted.

Unfortunately the Articles of Confederation didn't work well and a new Constitution was adopted. April 30 1789 and George Washington became the first US president under the new constitution.

Here is a list of the presidents preceding George Washington:

  • Samuel Huntington     1781

  • Thomas McKean        1781

  • John Hanson               1781

  • Elias Boudinot             1782

  • Thomas Mifflin           1783

  • Richard Henry Lee     1784

  • John Hancock              1785

  • Nathan Gorman           1786

  • Arthur St. Clair            1787

  • Cyrus Griffin                1789

Just for your consideration, Timothy Ruggles was president in 1765 under the Stamp Act Congress which was the first proto-American trans-colony political body.
