WORLD'S FIRST SCREENSAVER
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST

What was the world's first screensaver?

A long time ago stationary images on monitors or TVs would lead to burn-in thus permanently damaging the screens.

In December 1983 John Socha came out with 'scrnsave', a screensaver that blacked out the screen after three minutes of inactivity.

It was not until 1989 that Bill Stewart and Ian MacDonald of Software Dynamics developed a 16-bit screensaver which they named 'Magic Screensaver' which was the world's first animated screensaver and was available for download over the internet.

If you are feeling sentimental, you can still download the original Magic Screensaver from Dynamic Karma.
