What was the world's first nuclear-powered submarine?

The world's first nuclear-powered submarine was the USS Nautilus (SSN-571) and was built by the Electric Boat Company of Groton, Connecticut.

The USS Nautilus was christened and launched on January 21, 1954 and decommissioned and stricken from the Naval Vessel Register on March 03, 1980.

The USS Nautilus was towed back to Groton, Connecticut on July 06, 1985 where she now serves as a museum.
