Who was the world's first female space tourist?

Anousheh Ansari is an Iranian-American who, with her husband Hamid Ansari, founded Prodea Systems which was later bought by Sonus Networks, Inc.

She is now a member of the X Prize Foundationís Vision Circle and she took her love of space to the next level by becoming the world's fourth space tourist and the first female space tourist.

Anousheh Ansari paid $20 million USD to Space Adventures, Ltd. to join the Expedition 14 aboard a Soyuz TMA spacecraft for a trip to the International Space Station.

On September 18, 2006 Anousheh Ansari and the Expedition 14 crew blasted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan and on September 20th docked with the International Space Station.

Anousheh Ansari returned back to Earth on September 18, 2006 after the trip of a lifetime that ran her $2 million per day.
