Manon Rheaume, a goaltender from
Lac Beauport, Quebec, Canada was signed as a free agent by the Tampa Bay
Lightning and on September 23, 1992 in a preseason game against the St. Louis
Blues Manon Rheaume made history by becoming the first female to play in the NHL.
Manon Rheaume played one period, facing nine shots and allowing two goals, being
beaten by Jeff Brown and Brendan Shanahan.
Manon Rheaume played in one more
preseason for the Tampa Bay Lightning against the Boston Bruins in 1993.
