Batman was co-created by artist
Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger and made his debut in Detective Comics #27 in
May 1939 in which he was referred to as the Bat-Man.
Batman also starred in a popular television series in
the 1960's debuting on January 12 , 1966 on ABC and starred Adam West as
Batman/Bruce Wayne and Burt Ward as Robin.
