When were the world's first Emmys?

In 1948 the idea for the Emmy was born, but Academy founder Sid Cassyd suggests 'Ike' as the name of the award. Luckily Academy president Harry Lubcke suggests 'Immy' and even more luckily it is changed to 'Emmy' to make it more pleasing to women.

Louis McManus designed the Emmy using his wife as the model.
