The first Playboy magazine ever

WORLD'S FIRST
PLAYBOY MAGAZINE

THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST

What was the world's first Playboy magazine?

In 1953 Hugh Hefner had a dream, an adult entertainment magazine called Stag Party, but  luckily a popular outdoor magazine, Stag, wouldn't let Hugh Hefner use the name.

Co-founder of Playboy, Eldon Sellers, suggested Playboy and the rest is history.

The first issue of Playboy hit the stands in December 1953 featuring the first centerfold, Marilyn Monroe, and for only 50 Playboy was a hit.

The picture of Marilyn Monroe that was used was not taken by Playboy photographers, but was taken for a calendar and later purchased by Playboy in a shrewd marketing move which helped them sell out all 53,991 copies within two weeks.
