THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST

When was the world's first heart transplant?

On December 03, 1967 at the Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa, Surgeon Christiaan Barnard performed the world's first successful heart transplant on 53 year old Lewis Washkansky.

The heart came from 25 year old Denise Darvall, who did not survive her injuries in a car accident.

Unfortunately the drugs Lewis Washkansky was given to keep his body from rejecting the heart resulted in double pneumonia and he lived for only 18 days.
