WORLD'S FIRST
ARTIFICIAL HEART
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
What was the world's first artificial heart?
The artificial heart was patented
in the mid-1950s by Dr. Paul Winchell , but it would be almost 30 years before
before anyone received one.
On December 01, 1982 at the University of Utah Medical
Center in Salt Lake City, Utah Dr. William C. DeVries implanted dentist Dr.
Barney Clark with a Jarvik-7, an artificial heart designed by Robert Jarvik.
Barney Clark was connected to a large
air compressor needed to power the heart and he survived 112 days.
