The first battle of the American Civil War was the Bombardment of Fort Sumter which occurred on April 12 and April 13, 1861 at Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor, South Carolina.

The battle was very small and there were no casualties.

The First Battle of Bull Run, also called the First Battle of Manassas, was the first major battle of the Civil War and occurred on on July 21, 1861 at Manassas, Virginia.

The battle resulted in over 800 fatalities, including General Bee and General Barton, as well as more than 2,500 wounded.
