THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
What were the world's first hypoallergenic cats?
As of September 25, 2006, people
in the US that love cats but have an allergy that prevents them from owning one
can now enjoy these meowing and purring creatures all the time. These
hypoallergenic cats have been specially bred to be hypoallergenic.
The US biotech firm, Allerca has managed to achieve
breeding these cats by reducing a certain type of protein that triggers the
allergic reaction. Allerca states that with a hypoallergenic cat allergy
sufferers will no longer have to contend with red eyes, sneezing, and asthma
like symptoms except in very acute cases.
Allerca began recreating a list of hopeful buyers
in 2004 and there is still a waiting list for these unique cats.
For cat lovers this is a miracle as there has been
no genetic modification and the cats are not harmed in any way. The process is
time consuming and involved testing many cats to find the tiny fraction that do
not carry the glycoprotein Fel d1. This can be found in the catís saliva, fur
and skin and is usually the cause of allergic reactions in humans. Once they
discovered the cats that did not have the glycoprotein Fel d1, they were
successfully bred to give birth to hypoallergenic kittens.
If you wish to get on the waiting list, you should
first know that one of these kittens will cost $3,950.00 USD.
