ID CHECK FOR BREAKFAST
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
Where was the world's first ID check for breakfast?
We are all use to showing an ID to
purchase cigarettes or liquor but the International House of Pancakes in Quincy,
Massachusetts receives the award for being the first to ask customers to give up
their IDís at the door before being seated for breakfast.
A customer went into the IHOP for breakfast and was
greeted at the door by a security guard that asked for his license before he
could allow the greeter to seat him. The security guard already had in his hand
several driversí license. With all the problems of identify theft in this
country this IHOP just had to have a customer that had been a victim and refused
to fork over his identification.
The customer contacted the local television station
which of course aired the incredible ID check policy.
The IHOP started this policy since they had so many
customers coming in eating and leaving without paying their bill. The WCVB-TV
station in Boston stated the restaurant did this without corporate approval.
The IHOP has now agreed to reverse their policy and
the corporate office in Glendale, California stated this policy was enacted
without the knowledge or consent of management. They also apologized to the
customer who was inconvenienced.
