WORLD'S FIRST FIREFOX
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST

What was the world's first Firefox?

With Mozilla Firefox becoming a more and more popular web browser choice of today's surfers we wanted to find out just what the first Firefox browser looked like.

Firefox 1.0, the first official release of the browser, became available for download at 1:00 AM on November 09, 2004, but it all began 19 months earlier.

The first version of the browser, a preview release, was version 0.1, released on September 23, 2002, and it was called Phoenix back then, but on  April 14, 2003 the browser was renamed Firebird due to trademark issues with Phoenix Technologies.

The new name, Firebird, posed a problem for the Firebird database server and on February 09, 2004 Mozilla was forced to go through another name change, this time to Mozilla Firefox with version 0.8 being the first to be called Firefox.
