WORLD'S FIRST ALPHABET
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
What was the world's first alphabet?
In 1994 archaeologists
John and Deborah Darnell were digging in Wadi el-Hol near Luxor, Egypt when they discovered what is
considered to be the world's first alphabet etched into the limestone.
The alphabet dates back to 1900 BC and is the first
instance of symbols being used to represent single sounds rather than
concepts.
