WORLD'S FIRST SUPER BOWL
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
Who won the world's first Super Bowl?
The NFL was formed in 1920 and after fending off
competitive leagues for almost 50 years, in 1966 it finally merged with the AFL,
created in 1960.
Part of the agreement was a championship
game between the winners of each league called the NFL-AFL World Championship
Game be held.
Lamar
Hunt, Kansas City Chiefs owner and AFL founder, as a joke suggested the name
'Super Bowl' but although the fans adopted this name, it was not until 1969 that
the NFL-AFL World Championship Game was officially renamed the Super Bowl.
The first NFL-AFL World Championship Game (Super Bowl)
was held January 15 1967 at Memorial Coliseum Los Angeles, California and
featured the Green Bay Packers (NFL) and the Kansas City Chiefs (AFL).
The Green Bay Packers captured the world's first Super Bowl defeating the Green
Bay Packers 35 - 10.
Bart Starr, Green Bay's Quarterback,
won the first Super Bowl MVP.
