THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST

What was the world's first professional baseball team?

The first all-professional baseball team was the Cincinnati Red Stockings. The team became an amateur baseball club in 1863 but it was in 1869 that they became a professional baseball team.

There have actually been three different embodiments of the team. First they were the original team that called themselves the Red Stockings. They moved on to become another team that became a charter member of the National League in 1872 and a third was created in 1882. This is the team still in existence today and they are called the Cincinnati Reds.

They began playing under this name in 1890. It was at this time that they left the American Association and joined with the National League.
