WORLD'S FIRST BEANPOT
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
When was the world's first Beanpot?
There is a famous college hockey
tournament played every year in Boston. The tournament takes place in February
and due to Boston’s nickname “Beantown”, the tournament is called The Beanpot.
The same four teams play every
year. Those teams are Boston College (BC), Boston University (BU), Harvard and
Northeastern.
The men on the college hockey
teams play on the first and second Monday of February and the women play on the
first and second Tuesday. The winners of the first week go on to play against
each other the following week. The losing teams also play a consolation game the
following week. The winning teams are given the right to brag that they are
truly the best Boston college hockey team. So when did this all start?
The first men’s tournament was held in 1953 and
Harvard was crowned the winner. The first time the women played was in 1979 and
that tournament was won by Northeastern.
