TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
When was the world's first Talk Like a Pirate Day?
On June 6, 1995 John Baur, AKA
"Ol' Chumbucket", and Mark Summers, AKA "Cap'n Slappy", were playing racquetball
when one of the got slightly hurt and belted out a random pirate expletive.
After more racquetball and more pirate lingo they
decided that what the world really needed was a new holiday; Talk Like A Pirate
September 19 was
selected as it was his ex wife's birthday, the only day he'd remember and thus
September 19, 1995 was the first Talk Like A Pirate Day but only Mark and John
celebrated it until 2002.
In 2002 they sent an email to American syndicated humour
columnist Dave Barry who happened to like the idea and promoted it and from
there Talk Like A Pirate Day grew to the
holiday we know and love today.
Arrrrr matey!, if you need to polish up on your pirate
lingo you can do so
