WORLD'S FIRST ASTEROID LANDING
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
What was the world's first asteroid landing?
On February 12, 2001, after 12
months of orbiting Asteroid 433 Eros, NASA's NEAR Shoemaker touched down on Eros
which was just under 200 million miles away.
Although not equipped with landing gear, NEAR Shoemaker
landed softly and sent back signals for 16 days before communication was lost.
