WORLD'S FIRST OPRAH WINFREY SHOW
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST

What was the world's first Oprah Winfrey Show?

Oprah Winfrey has been around for decades as a daytime talk show host and she has seen many milestones during that time – her 100th show, her 20th anniversary, and she has just recently announced that she will be officially ending her show in 2011. So out of all of these episodes, guests, and audiences, what was the very first Oprah Winfrey Show to ever air?

The show, which we know today as simply Oprah actually began as AM Chicago. This was a struggling morning talk show that was aired locally in Chicago and Oprah Gail Winfrey was brought in as the newest host. The audience loved her, as did the camera, and within just a few short months of Oprah taking over, the ratings for AM Chicago had surpassed Phil Donahue’s talk show, which at the time was the highest-ranking talk show. On September 8, 1986, the show was extended to include a full hour and it began to broadcast nationally. It was also called The Oprah Winfrey Show, making this the very first Oprah episode to ever air.
