What was the world's first computer mouse?

The world's first computer mouse was created by Douglas Engelbart at the Stanford Research Institute in 1968.

Douglas Engelbart never received any royalties for his invention as his patent expired before before mice became a staple of computer users.

The first commercial mouse was shipped with the Xerox 8010 Information System in 1981 which also included firsts use of  graphical user interface, icons, folders, Ethernet networking, file servers, print servers and e-mail.

The mouse really came into the mainstream in 1984 with the introduction of the Apple Macintosh.
