THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
Who was the world's first American Idol to win a Grammy?
Ever since it came to televisions
everywhere in America during the 2001/2002 television season, American Idol has
been doing wonderful things to propel young people’s musical careers and giving
unknowns a chance that they never would have had. During the final results show
during their premiere season, Kelly Clarkson was announced as the winner of the
first American Idol. For this, Clarkson would forever go down in the history
books but 3 years later, she would make history again and once again, she would
have American Idol, along with her own natural talent, to thank for it.
It was during the 48th Annual Grammy Awards, which
were held on February 9, 2006, that Kelly Clarkson also became the first winner
from American Idol to win a Grammy. And that night, not only did Clarkson win
one award, but two! Winning first in the category for Best Female Pop Vocal
Performance, Kelly Clarkson beat out huge names such as Sheryl Crow, Gwen
Stefani, Bonnie Raitt, and Mariah Carey, who was favored to win the category.
Later on, Kelly Clarkson then won her second Grammy in the category for Best Pop
Vocal Album. In this category, she once again beat out Sheryl Crow and Gwen
Stefani along with Fiona Apple and Paul McCartney.
Another American Idol winner, Fantasia Barrino, was
also nominated at the ceremony for 4 different R&B categories but Fantasia did
not take home any awards.
