NHL's FIRST 100 GOAL SCORER
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST

Who was the first player to score 100 goals in the NHL?

Up until now no player in the NHL has scored 100 goals in a regular season, although Wayne Gretzky did come close during the 1981–82 season with the Edmonton Oilers.

In his 80 regular season games Gretzky did amass 92 goals and if you take into account his 5 goals in the playoffs his total came just short at 97 goals.

During the 1983–84 season, again with the with the Edmonton Oilers, Wayne notched 87 goals in 74 games. Add in another 13 goals in 19 playoff games and Wayne Gretzky did become the first player in the NHL to net 100 goals in a single season.
