What was the first X-Files movie?

Any fan of X-Files is a die-hard and so the world was sent into a frenzy when it was announced that there was going to be a movie released between the 5th and 6th seasons of the television show. The movie is known as The X-Files: Fight the Future. ‘Fight the Future’ was used as a tagline to promote the movie but it was never actually included in the copyrighted on-screen title and so, its official name is simply The X-Files.

The movie fit in alongside the plot line of the television show and so to understand the movie, one had to watch the 5th television season and to understand the 6th season, fans must have watched the movie. The film was directed by Rob Bowman and Gillian Anderson plays her role as Dana Scully while David Duchovny also returns to fill his role of Fox Mulder. The X-Files was released in the United States on June 19, 1998 and took in a total $189,198,313 in gross revenue at the box office. It was succeeded by The X-Files: I Want to Believe, which was released in the United States 10 years later!
