The story of
the ghost ship of Captain Sandovate.
Off the coast of New
Jersey, you may be witness to an eerie ghost ship that haunts the
Atlantic Ocean along the coastline.
The tale is one of a horrifying death
of Captain Don Sandovate. He along with his crew sailed from Spain
to the New World in search of treasure. He did find gold; however,
his crew did not wish to share the wealth with the monarch of Spain.
They mutinied and imprisoned their captain. The way in which they
imprisoned the captain was one of the most brutal on record. He was
tied to the main mast. He was not allowed food or water. The summer
sun was beating down on his body day after day as the sailors turned
to piracy.
After many days tied to the mast, Don
Sandovate begged for just a sip of water. The men thought this was
very amusing and taunted the captain even more by holding water just
out of his reach. The captain did not last. He died within a few
days after the mutiny. The new captain left his body tied to the
mast, and plundered his way up the coast. The people of Providence
were watching in fear as these heartless men left destruction on
their path.
A storm arose on the seas and the ship
sank with everyone on board with captain Sandovate still tied to the
mast.
Today, many have seen the ghost ship
with its mast broken, the captain’s body tied to the main mast, and
skeletons as crewmembers. The skeletons beg ships passing by for a
mere sip of water.
