The legend that surrounds the ghost that haunts Conwy Caste involves one of Robert Wynn’s successors. He had to leave the castle and fight in a war that was in a distant land. His wife and child climbed the staircase to the lookout tower when it was time for him to return. As the night drew on and darkness fell upon the tower, the wife and child had to leave the tower and could wait no longer. As she was descending carrying her child, she slipped and fell to the bottom of the tower. The servants took them to the lantern room and Doctor Dic was called. He explained that there was nothing he could do to save either of them. The servant out of fear from what his Lord might do, he locked Dr. Dic inside the lantern room along with the dying woman and her child.

When the Lord arrived, the servant unlocked the door. The only persons in the room were his dean wife and child. Dr. Dic had vanished. The Lord could not take the grief of losing his wife and child, the never-ending searching for Dr. Dic, and finally succumbed to insanity and death.

It is said that this Lord is still in the castle actually in the Lantern room, searching for Dr. Dic and he will not rest until the missing doctor is found.
