The story of Red Fort.

Delhi's own Lal Quila (Red Fort), completed in 1648 has experienced a variety of historical events take place within its walls. Built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan as a palace in his then new capital of Shahjahanbad it was even the headquarters of the Sepoy Mutiny or First Battle of Indian Independence in the year 1857.

It has housed many members of the Indian army and their families over the years which took over it after the Mutiny. Small wonder that there have been unexplained and apparently paranormal occurrences within.

During stormy nights horse hooves can be heard thundering through parts of the premises. There have been ghostly apparitions sighted inside the Deewan-e-Aam. Unexplained sounds are heard to emanate from a well near the Zeenat Mahal in the Fort.

No one has reported to have seen anything but there have been a number of people who have heard the sounds of a lady's tinkling anklets from around or within the well. This well was a spot where the corpses of executed unfortunates were disposed of during the British Rule in India.

With a rich and often gory history it's quite possible that these tales about the Lal Quila are not merely tales!
