THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST

The story of Salimgarh Fort.

A fort older than the Red Fort (Lal Quila), but located on an island very close, this Old Delhi ruin is often considered to be the most haunted structure in a city where tales of genies, magic and spirits are not uncommon.

It is situated on the Yamuna river over a kilometer north of the Lal Quila and was built in the year 1546 by Salim Shah, the then king, after which Aurangzeb the Mughal emperor succeeding Salim Shah had it turned into a state jail.

Many Indian patriots were imprisoned for long years at the fort during the Freedom Struggle against the British Rule in India.

Unexplained ghostly sounds are reported more often than actual sightings. Footsteps are heard echoing across the premises. Sounds of 'vicious laughter' a said to occur from time to time then fade away if investigative attempts are made. For a fort so old and with a history as a prison during the reign of blood thirsty Aurangzeb it is not surprising that the echoes of the horror are heard through time.
