The story of Point Lookout Lighthouse.

Claimed by many to be the most haunted lighthouse in the United States of America, Point Lookout Lighthouse was active until recently and is presently being restored. It even has it's own fog bell tower and shares many historically analogous points with the Eastern State Penitentiary.

The Eastern State Penitentiary was intended to be a holding unit for a maximum of two hundred and fifty prisoners each in solitary confinement designed to promote meditation techniques so that they would reflect upon their past misdeeds. Its purpose was lost in the overcrowding that followed when it commenced leading to much mental illness and many deaths with subsequent reports of ghosts and apparitions.

Similarly the area next to the Point Lookout Lighthouse was turned into a prison camp by the Union Army and saw much pain, suffering, despair, despondency and eventually death. Every characteristic of a place, which would go onto be a haven for haunting.

From the 1860's onwards there have been reports of many a ghost sighted here and unexplained phenomena abound. Mysterious noises along with strange voices of unknown origin have been heard and even taped in the lighthouse. Apparitions have been spotted in the basement. Specters apparently searching for their graves that haven't been there for a hundred years have also been reported as has the ghost of Ann Davis the lighthouse’s first keeper.

A spooky history if there ever was one!
