THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST

The story of Presque Isle Lighthouse.

Situated on Lake Huron at Presque Isle in the state of Michigan in the United States and built in 1840 it is another lighthouse whose one time keeper apparently refuses to abandon it.

Presque Isle Lighthouse is said to be haunted by George Parris, it's keeper up until the year 1991.

One incident recalls how a little girl visited the tower and appeared to have seen George there and she later identified the 'man in the tower' on seeing a portrait of him.

Currently in a state of abandonment a light sometimes flashes from the lighthouse tower and this phenomenon apparently began soon after the death of George Parris in 1991.

George Parris and his wife Lorraine Parris lived in a cottage adjacent to the lighthouse from the year 1977 onwards where they kept the lighthouse grounds in order and even guided tours around the area. The lighthouse had had its wiring removed in the year 1979 which is why the appearance of the flashing amber lights after George Parris's death (he had helped the Coast Guard remove the wiring himself while alive) is so mysterious.

He is still survived by his wife and she believes it is his presence that is felt in and around the lighthouse. Phantom smells of non existent breakfasts sometimes still pervade the house, she says (he used to make the breakfast for her) "Quite a romantic spirit, this is!"
