THE HAUNTED RAILROAD TRACKS
LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG
The story of the haunted railroad tracks.
Near San Antonio,
Texas is an intersection that is famous for a tragic bus accident
that happened many decades ago. The story varies a little in
different versions but the basics are the same and the story is
believed to be true.
Near San Juan Mission in the 1930s or
1940s, a bus full of school children was heading down a road when it
stalled on railroad tracks. A train coming full speed smashed into
the bus before all of the children had time to escape. Ten children
and the bus driver were all killed. Today, any car that is stopped
near the track will be pushed across. It’s said that it is the
children’s ghosts that are pushing the cars across the tracks, so no
one will need to suffer a horrible death such as they did.
This has been tested many times and the
site is still one that has many of the curious coming to see what
will happen. People drive to the sight and stop their car twenty or
thirty yards away from the tracks. Some will even turn the car off
completely to ensure that the car is not working on any of its own
mechanisms. The car is pushed up the slight incline and across the
tracks, beginning slowly and then gradually becoming quicker and
quicker until the car is considered at a safe point.
But that is not where the story ends.
It’s said that if a light powder is spread over the car’s back
bumper, one can see the handprints of the children who have helped
the car to safety. Many have attested to the fact that the cars are
pushed across the tracks and that handprints can be seen when powder
is spread across the back bumper.
Many others, though certainly not
everyone who visits the site, have also experienced strange
happenings in the area. Some of these have included hearing
children’s voices, actually having car trouble while on the tracks,
and hearing crying. Some have taken photos of the area and when
developed, have noticed figures in the photos that were not there
when the photo was taken.
It has been made clear that this
accident did indeed happen. That fact has been documented and
accepted as a true part of history. Whether or not the other
happenings caused by the children’s ghosts are part of the true
story has yet to be determined. Just like any other ghost story,
it’s up to one to believe what they choose, and if nothing else, it
makes a great story.
