The story of Ballyboley Forest.
Ballyboley Forest is located in
Larne in Northern Ireland. This community was once believed to be home of the
Druids. During the 15th, 16th, and 17th centuries as the legend goes, several
people disappeared. We are not just talking about one or two people in a matter
of weeks, we are talking about several people over the course of 3 centuries.
Today, even though the forest is now part of a
pubic park, many people will not venture into the eerie forest. On the
northeastern part of the forest are visible circular trenches and stone
formations that are embedded into the ground, which is believed to be proof of
the Druids in the area. However, this does not give a reason for the sightings
of the four human shaped figures, black smoke and screaming voices, loud
flapping sounds, a lady moaning, and the eerie feeling that is overwhelming once
you venture off the manmade paths. Locals in the area will not even enter on the
paths at all, so there must be something to the tales or something that has
scared the entire so much as to not enjoy the beauty of this forest.
The locals believe that Ballyboley Forest is the
gateway to the Otherworld from Celtic tradition.
