OLD WARDOUR CASTLE
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST

The story of Old Wardour Castle.

When you first see this 14th century castle in Wiltshire, Southwest England you will see why is was called the most romantic castle in England. It is set among the most beautiful countryside overlooking a lake. The Old Wardour was the location that was used for Kevin Costner’s Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

However, as evening falls, the castle takes on an eerie sight, possibly from the evil that abounded between the walls during the 17th century English Civil War.

Lady Blanche Arundell was a Royalist supporter that lived in Wardour castle during the 17th century. She held her ground against the Cromwell’s Roundheads along with her servants for one month before the Roundheads took control. She fought as long as was possible and probably longer than many men did during this era.

Lady Blanche Arundell was imprisoned and then executed. Today, she is seen walking from the castle to the lake in the evening hours just as the sun is setting and the night chill is in the air.

Is she still there to protect her lake and castle from invaders or is she still here because of the beautiful setting of her castle?
