The story of Llancaiach Fawr Manor.
Llancaiach Fawr Manor was built
originally in 1530 on the site where there stood an earlier medieval castle.
Colonel Edward Pritchard changed his allegiance in 1645 from the Royalist to the
Parliamentarian cause and completely redecorated the interior of the castle.
Once you step into the castle, it looks just like it did back in 1645 - time
stands still. During the day, you can enjoy a tour with servants dressed in
period costumes, giving you all the gossip about the area, the master himself
and of course any events that may be happening in the area.
However, once darkness falls, the real residents of
Llancaiach Fawr Manor make their appearance. Touring in search of the ghosts
that remain here is a popular tourist attraction during the winter months.
Stated by paranormal investigators Llancaiach Fawr Manor is one of the most
atmospheric and eeriest castles in the area.
The unique and awesome, grand staircase is on your
left as you enter, here is the ghosts of two children. Some have actually seen
their apparitions, while others have only heard them playing a game and
laughing. There are many ghost children in Llancaiach Fawr manor. These ghost
children enjoying playing all kinds of jokes and pranks on visitors and staff
alike. The female guides have on many occasions had their aprons that they wear
along with their costumes mysteriously untied while they drop to the ground.
Another steward once placed his hand on the railing of the grand staircase only
to feel a cold child’s hand underneath.
In the kitchen, you may catch a glimpse of the
ghost that is believed to be Mattie making baking bread. She was a former
housekeeper that died under tragic circumstances even though no one really knows
the way in which she passed on. Mattie’s bedroom is on the upper floor of
Llancaiach Fawr Manor and it is believed to the most haunted room of all. As you
walk into the room, you feel the overwhelming sadness that aluminates through
the air. Many people have left the room in tears.
The strange voices of people speaking in Welsh was
recorded accidentally when a filming crew was interviewing staff. Much of the
film was unusable because of the voices of those that were not present during
the filming or even heard by film crew.
